Changes to Microsoft Office 365 Subscriptions
Changes to your Microsoft Office 365 Subscription
Microsoft's Office 365 subscription has become a very popular solution for Businesses the need to use the Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word / Powerpoint / Excel / Publisher / Outlook) and with Office 365 all users are also entitled to receive the newer versions of Microsoft Office as they are released.
Microsoft have recently published a report detailing changes that will be happening to both the Business and Personal Subscriptions, please see below for a list of changes to the Office 365 Subscriptions
Removal of Microsoft Office 2013 and end of support
Microsoft released the newer version of Microsoft Office (2016) in September 2015 and have slowly been offering the newer software to all Office 2013 users through a banner that runs across the top of your office 365 applications, and through clicking update your computers are automatically updated to the latest software version.
However, some businesses have been unable to use Microsoft Office 2016 due to third party applications (such as Sage, or your Businesses CRM Software) not being compatible with the new Office versions and for the last year Microsoft have been aware of this problem and have allowed businesses that use Office 365 to still download and install the 2013 version of the software so that everything still works as expected.
Now that Microsoft Office 2016 has been available for over a year, Microsoft have announced that they will be removing all support for Microsoft Office 2013, and all digital downloads of Office 2013 starting in March 2017. Administrators of Office 365 will no longer be able to download the 2013 suite of Applications and clients will be unable to to revert back to Office 2013
If you are still using Microsoft Office 2013
If you are still using Microsoft Office 2013 then you must speak with your Systems developer (such as Sage / FileFinder / Dropbox etc) to ensure that your systems will still work with the newer Microsoft Office 2016.
If your add-ins are still incompatible, then please contact us and we can look at stopping your computer upgrading to Microsoft Office 2016
If you use a Digital Download / License Key version of Office 2013
IF you do not use Microsoft Office 365, but you have Microsoft Office 2013 then the above information will not apply to your business, Digital versions of Microsoft Office 2013 will still be available for purchase, but not through Microsoft 365.
